Extend the auction to a specific timing

Is there a feature that you would like to see added to Enuuk Auction Platform?

Extend the auction to a specific timing

Post by cynic- » Mon Jan 10, 2011 10:43 am

I am currently reading the official documentation (ABEtutorial.pdf)
About this one I have a question :
Auction auto extension:
You can automatically extend the auction end time if there is a bid in last moment. Define how
many seconds you want to extend your auctions and which is the time frame you will have to
perform this operation.
... instead of "adding x seconds" is it possible to "extend the auction to x euros" ?

edit : Or, "extend the auction for x seconds" ?

Not without modding the code.

Thinking about it - how would this work - if an item only had 3 bids, and the extended price was never reached, then the auction would continue forever and the people who placed the bids would have lost interest.

I am intrigued as to how you think this would work.

Thanks for your reply Rich. In that case, indeed, you're right, no more interest - I forgot to specify that I was in a penny auction context.
That's why I just edited my first post.

Same question, so, about "extend the auction to x seconds". When clicking for adding "1 penny" within the last few seconds, I would increase the timer to "15 sec." for example. I saw that on some penny auction websites, and my customer is interested in using that feature.

I have moved the topic as it seems better in this forum.

It would be relatively simple to change the way in which the auction extension works - have a look at class\action\Offer.php ->wanted()

You will find the auction extension timer - this can be changed quite easily to a fixed value, just remember to change the description in the admin backend (themes\admin\auctionAutoExtension.php).

I could do the mod for you if you liked for 25GBP.

Great, for now I'm browsing the enuuk files, seeing how things work etc
I'll probably manage to make the necessary changes (thanks to your indications) but I know that you can install mods and your prices are good ;)
