Bug in v2.11: reverse auction comment - FIXED IN V3.0

Post by bamse » Sat Mar 31, 2012 10:06 pm

When bidding on a reverse auction item, offerWantedReverse.php allows the bidder to enter a comment. However as far as i can see the comment is not send to the seller in the email message. Not sure what happens to the comment.

Without looking at the code I am not sure - however, you can see the comment when looking at the list of bids on an item listing....

Thanks. Didn't know that the comment would go into the history. I thought the comment was meant first of all for the seller.

It does seem odd that anyone can read the comment - I would have thought the idea is that because with a reverse auction, the bidder tends to be offering something to the person who placed the advert, so you could put a comment abotut quantity / quality etc.

However, there is no means of the person who placed the advert rejecting a bid.

So I am not quite sure what you would want to add as a comment that would make sense....

Not sure either why it should be visible to everyone. Anyway, for our use, we don't display the history or comments. In case somebody is interested, here is how to make the comment be send by email:

in class/OfferMail/ReverseAuction.php below "case Offer::EVENT_BID:" add

Code: Select all

$params['bidComment']    = $subject->bids[0]->comment;

and then use "#bidComment#" in themes/mail/bid.??\_??.txt

Should work for the other auction types (if available) in the same way.
