Emails as auctions near the end

Post by RWAP » Thu Jun 30, 2011 4:23 pm

I have yesterday added a new module to my own site, which sends emails to users who have

a) added an auction to their favourites, or
b) bid on an auction

The emails are sent when there is an admin set number of hours remaining on the auction.
The emails basically say that the item you are watching / bid on, is due to come to an end shortly.

It has already resulted in some people coming back to my site to place more bids, so is quite an important module.

Does anyone have any more suggestions as to how it should work before I release it?

I was wondering if you completed this, it sounds like a good addition.

Yes, this is completed and working on my site at the moment and seems to work nicely.

When items are nearing the end, it emails users who are watching the item and users who have placed a bid.

I shall document this mod this weekend and make it available for £50 (installation would be extra if you don't want to do it yourself).

v1.1 of this module has now been released, which incorporates an improvement to the way notifications are issued and updated in the database to help reduce server load.
