Corrections to Terms Used

Post by RWAP » Sat Feb 06, 2010 11:38 am

I thought it would be useful here to look at some of the default language used in the files and correct some of the English.

The translation of these updates and perhaps the standardisation of some of the terms can then be discussed in viewforum.php?f=14

It is pleasing to note that some of the changes suggested in this section have already been incorporated into v2.4 (and have therefore been deleted from the forum) - however, a few improvements remain:

In themes\default\offerDetailsReverse.php
In themes\default\offerDetailsLot.php
In themes\default\offerDetailsFixed.php
Find:

Code: Select all

                            <p><big><?=_('You won this article, congratulations!')?> <a href="<?=$relativePath?>user/wonAuctions"><?=_('Pay now')?></a></big></p>
Reads better as:

Code: Select all

                            <p><big><?=_('You purchased this article, congratulations!')?> <a href="<?=$relativePath?>user/wonAuctions"><?=_('Pay now')?></a></big></p>
I would also then suggest that in all of the offerDetailsxxx files:

Code: Select all

                                <dt><?= _('Item Location')?>:</dt>
                                <dd><?=$city?>, <?=$country?></dd>
Becomes:

Code: Select all

	                                <dt><?= _('Item Location')?>:</dt>
	                                <dd><?=$city ? $city.', ':''?><?=$country?></dd>

In class\Action\Offer.php

Find:

Code: Select all

                    $params['aResprice']        = _('No aplicable');
This should read:

Code: Select all

                    $params['aResprice']        = _('Not applicable');

In themes\default\search.php

Find:

Code: Select all

<div class="c5 textRight"><?= _('Price') ?> : </div>
This reads better as:

Code: Select all

<div class="c5 textRight"><?= _('Maximum Price') ?> : </div>

In the themes\mails\no_longer_winner.en_US.txt
The header says:
Your have been OUTBID
This should be:
You have been OUTBID

In themes\default\index.php

Find:

Code: Select all

                        <caption><?=_('Last created auctions')?> <a href="<?=$relativePath?>?v=rss&feed=last&lang=<?=$language?>"><img src="<?=$relativePath?>themes/default/img/feedIcon.png" alt="<?=sprintf(_('Subscribe to %s'),_('Last created auctions'))?>" class="rss" /></a></caption>
Change this to:

Code: Select all

                        <caption><?=_('Latest auctions')?> <a href="<?=$relativePath?>?v=rss&feed=last&lang=<?=$language?>"><img src="<?=$relativePath?>themes/default/img/feedIcon.png" alt="<?=sprintf(_('Subscribe to %s'),_('Latest auctions'))?>" class="rss" /></a></caption>

In themes\default\userWonAuctions.php

Find:

Code: Select all

                    	<a href="<?=$relativePath?>user/profile/<?=$user['id']?>"><?= _("User's profile") ?></a>
This reads better as:

Code: Select all

                    	<a href="<?=$relativePath?>user/profile/<?=$user['id']?>"><?= _("Your profile") ?></a>
